Bahrain announced on Saturday the arrest of 14 Iranians for illegally entering the country.

The Interior Ministry said that the Iranians attempted to enter the island nation on “forged Asian passports.”

It revealed that the detainees paid for the Asian passports in cash to be able to enter the country.

The statement did not identify those arrested, nor did it offer a motive for their entry into Bahrain.

Bahrain long has accused Iran of arming and training militants and stirring dissent on the island.
