Iranian foreign affairs Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, has said his country was supporting a lasting political solution to the Western Sahara conflict and urged Muslim leaders to “show wisdom to settle the issue”, according to the Moroccan foreign ministry Tuesday.
Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony, has been controlled by Morocco since 1975.
The Iranian minister arrived in Morocco on Sunday as part of an African tour, which had already taken him to Libya and Chad.
He met with the Moroccan Prime Minister, Driss Jettou, and the speakers of the two parliament Chambers on Monday.
